Store Check: July Nike BHS

I thought I would have more time to write especially with the season now on it's break and the PBA season nearing its own downtime. I thought wrong. I still appreciate everyone dropping by to check it out. Anyhoo, let's get down to biz.

Last Monday, I decided to drop by and check two places over at BHS. One is this sale on top of dimensione. I thought they only had furniture there. They had a pretty neat sale. For guys though, it was only Fox and Adidas worth checking out. Sneakers were so so ,but the track jackets were pretty cool. They still had the W2 and W3 adicolor jackets there... at 80% off the real price! If only I were one size smaller.,,,

Then I dropped by Nike BHS. As they have changed their store facade in preparation for Kobe, they also had a couple of new kicks worth getting. My personal pick- AJ1 DTRT Metallic Red. The AM1 Safari Pack for the ladies is also a good choice. I'm happy that they released a white-blue polka AJ1 for kids. At least you and your kid can rock Jordans when you go out. Polka dots at that!

I also scoped out the latest running shoes. I've yet to really look into them but they are hella light. With all the lunar foam and lunar lite technology with flywire all over the place, the shoes will definitely work out real nice.

What's not on display just yet are the White Men Can't Jump Pack kicks that's set to release this Sunday. So for all you heads out there, I'll see you all on Sunday.

Want to win some Kicks?

I've been talking about the iconic pair for quite some time now, and I'm actually wearing my pair while writing this piece. I got this off the mailing list. If you can't read this properly, click on the image or log on to statusmagonline.com/nikeairmaxcontest. It's pretty tedious, but hey, for an ultra cool pair of kicks? Why not right?

Store Check: Brat Pack

On a trip to Greenbelt 5, I decided to drop by bags aplenty Brat Pack. To my surprise, they had a pretty interesting selection of DCs and Tretorn. I'm no lover of the traditional skate shoe, so I wouldn't know what really works but here's a look at what they have. They've got so many styles I didn't know where to look.

Then there's Tretorn. Yes, the tennis/badminton shoe of choice from way back. I remember seeing Dragonflys, Tretorns and K-Swiss as preppy staples. Now the Trets are back and they've got a lot of cool designs that are worth getting for everyday use. My personal faves here are the black and green booties. Drop by Brat Pack's store over at Greenbelt 5.

AM1 OG at Hideout

Man! Has it been a while! I was supposed to post these shots last week but I had a terribly busy weekend and it's only now that I've had the chance to really sit down and get some work done. As Shoe Salon released the Air Maxim 1 2 weeks ago, Hideout (the souped up high end version) released the Air Max 1 OG. This is a quickstrike and the store carries only 2 pairs per size.

I dropped by the 26th to check if they had the sport red OGs. When I got there, they ran out of the reds in my size. I thought about the pair all weekend long, to the point that've accepted that I can only have the blue OGs. Last Tuesday, Jonathan from Hideout texted and mentioned that they received a random delivery from the warehouse and had a 10.5 left of the reds. Right after work I went straight to the store and picked up my 10.5s. What a way to end the month!

For those who aren't familiar with these OGs, the Air Max originally came out 1987 and set the standard for many sneaker designs today. It has a predominantly grey colored base, with white and red accents throughout the upper. The shoe also is the first of Nike's Visible Air- the tube that we all know and love. To add to the shoe's fame, Nike/Jordan lead designer Tinker Hatfield designed this pair. Hatfield mentioned that the Pompidou Center in Paris was the inspiration behind the iconic shoe.

Do check out Hideout for the AM1 OGs. This may be one of the best releases of 2009. Do you really want to catch yourself scratching your heads saying "I should've"?

Kobe Kobe Kobe Kobe

Yup. The Mamba's back. Kobe Bryant will be dropping by the Manila to cap off a 6-city Asian Tour for Summer 2009. Aside from Manila, he'll also drop by Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Chengdu from July 21 to 26.

We all know that Kobe's one of those special players that turned into one of the best athletes in the world. His list of achievements are not to be gawked at- scoring 81 points, 2008 League MVP, 2008 Olympic Gold Medal member with Team USA, 2009 Finals MVP and his four rings, the last one during the recently concluded 2009 NBA Finals.

Kobe has met with players and fans alike throughout Asia over the past three summers; touring with Nike during 06 and 07, and as part of Team USA leading up to the games in Beijing where he led the team to gold in 2008. This summer's tour offers Kobe a chance to check back in with the young players he met on previous tours and meet up and coming players who he hopes to inspire. "I'm looking forward to returning to Asia to see the progress the kids have made since my last visit," said Bryant. "I liked what I saw then and I'm planning to work the kids even harder to give them a better sense of the dedication and hard work it takes to be a champion".

As mentioned on a previous post, Nike launched the Dream Season. Developed to meet the needs of outdoor basketball players in Asia, the Nike Dream Season was designed with insights from KB24. The shoe is exclusive to Asia. So you know what that means guys-- cop it!!!

Tune in for more information on Kobe's tour here or on www.nike.com.ph.

New Kicks at Puma GB5

I'm getting used to this. Weekly drops, to die for kicks, everything. We're getting there. Check out the new kicks over at Puma Greenbelt 5. I dropped by the store last Monday and saw these. There're more but these are the ones that caught my eye. One shoe that I didn't get to shoot were the Ferrari edition L.I.F.T. racers. These are the lightest kicks in town. I'll try to drop by this weekend and do a sneaker review on them.

Nike Hyperize: White Men Can't Jump

Sad but true. White men can't jump. To further stress the fact, they even made a movie out of it. Ok, so it's wasn't the sole reason why they made the movie. But in terms of basketball-themed movies, this ranks as one of the best in the biz. And to commemorate this awesome movie (and a follow up to the McFlys), Nike made a special make up of the Nike Hyperize after the film's two major characters- Billy Hoyle and Sidney Deane. What's even better is that you can cop these pairs real soon. in Manila.

The Nike Hyperize WMCJ Pack will be available at Nike Park Bonifacio High Street on July 12, 2009. Each pair will retail for Php 6,795. There will be 90 pairs per shoe available. Mark your calendars!
